Guangdong announced the evaluation results of its environmental protection efforts in 21 prefecture-level cities in 2009. 4 cities including Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Huizhou and Heyuan were graded "excellent", and 11 cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Foshan were grade "good". The 6 remaining cities including Shantou and Zhaoqing received a "pass".
The results show that the overall scorings of each city are all higher than in 2008. And finally, a survey of the public opinion shows that 78% of citizens are satisfied with their cities' environmental protection work, 4% higher than the previous year.
