The former Zengcheng Industrial Park is to be upgraded into the Zengcheng Economic and Technology Development Zone (ETDZ), becoming the third national-level ETDZ in Guangzhou. As a national-level ETDZ, the management committee has the same approval rights as the Guangzhou Municipal Government.
All enterprises in the zone will be subsidized according to relevant regulations and the zone's management especially intend to attract foreign enterprises.
Guangzhou has two other national-level economic and technical development zones in Luogang and Nansha district. Luogang focuses on knowledge and high-tech industries whilst Nansha's advantage is it's port economy, meanly assembly lines and logistical bases. Zengcheng centers on the automobile industry and manufacturing.
