Dongguan is going to invest 10 million RMB in building up a weather planetarium in the city's botanical garden, Dongguan Daily reported last Wednesday.
According to the report, the weather planetarium will cover an area of nearly 1,700 square meters and cost more than 10 million RMB. It will assume the role of comprehensive exploration, public education of science and weather forecast.
Residents can gain knowledge of basic weather phenomena and disasters for free all the year round. "The public will have the opportunity to learn and experience the practical and interesting knowledge of meteorological science," said an officer representing the Bureau of Meteorology.
Otherwise, the museum will be located near the botanical garden in the suburb where there is little light at night on higher ground. All these provide good conditions for astronomical enthusiasts to investigate the secret of stars.
