A total of 160 students from 120 universities have gathered in Shenzhen competing to become one of the 100 Universiade registered journalists after interviews and training during their one-week stay.
In the past two days, the students visited the headquarters of China Merchants Bank and Tencent and attended workshops on media technology, new media and journalism. They were also lectured by scholars and seasoned journalists.
Apart from the 10 team leaders, the 150 candidates were selected from 1,013 college reporters from over 300 universities in fierce competition.
During their week in Shenzhen, they will be required to make suggestions on running the Universiade newspaper, Web site, Internet TV station, micro-blog and picture album.
The students are expected to promote the Universiade and Shenzhen when they return to their campuses, according to the Universiade organizing committee.
The 100 Universiade registered journalists will be trained by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) to cover the Universiade.
