Automates in hospitals cut down registration times

Write: Auburn [2011-05-20]

Starting on September 15, 10 automatic registration machines were put into use at the 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. Yang Cheng Tong card carriers now need only to insert their card into the machine to benefit from a range of services including booking a consultation with a doctor or a scan. Patients can even pay their bills and print out receipts directly on the automates. These procedures should take less than one minute.

According to Lu Huijing, the head of the hospital's IT department, these machines shall significantly reduce the waiting time. "About 100 people use these machines everyday, accounting for 20% of the total number of patients." He said. They shall operate from 5am to 11:30am and 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
