The 13th Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology will be staged at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Centre from December 20 to 22, organisers announced recently.
According to Zhao Nanxian, Deputy Secretary-General of the Guangzhou Municipal Government, the convention will be open, for the first time, to non-Chinese professionals. In addition to overseas Chinese students, highly qualified professionals will also be sought after. Furthermore, Guangzhou authorities have worked out a number of policies aimed at speeding up the recruitment of high-level professionals.
The overall qualifications of the participants in the upcoming convention and the quality of projects to be featured at the convention are expected to rise. For example, at least 60 per cent of the candidates for innovation jobs will be PhDs, and more than 400 high-quality business startup projects will be showcased. Moreover, 50 highly-accomplished overseas-educated young Chinese entrepreneurs aged below 35 will be invited to the convention.
