Myanmar-Chinese residing in Yangon Sunday held a music show to greet the forthcoming 16th Asian Games scheduled for Nov. 12 in China's southern city of Guangzhou.
Sponsored by the local Myanmar-Guangdong Music Band, the music show took place in the Chinatown, attended by different walks of life especially young sports enthusiasts totalling about 800.
The music show included song and dance performances in praise of the Asian Games.
The music show was the second of its kind sponsored by the music band with the first being in August 2008 in celebration of the successful launching of the then Bejing Olympic Games.
A total of 14,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries and regions will take part in 42 sport in the Asian Games. Myanmar will join with 80 athletes contesting in 10 sports.
As a follow-up, Myanmar will also take part in three other sports in the Asian Para Games to be followed in Guangzhou from Dec. 12 to 19, according to the Myanmar Para Sport Federation (MPSF).
The country will compete in track and field, volleyball and swimming in the para games.
Around 3,000 athletes from more than 40 Asian countries ann regions will participate in 19 sports of the para games.
