The 108th Session of China Import and Export Fair, also known as Canton Fair opens in Guangzhou's Pazhou complex today (October 15th). Exporters attend the fair with both joys and worries.
The organizers raised the rental fee to ensure that low-value-added exporters would not dominate the fair, as a result many less competitive exporters have to be phased out from the fair. However, the number of exhibitors from home and abroad totals 23,599, increasing by 240 compared with last session.
Inside the fair, many exporters expressed that they are facing a harder time with increased labor costs and the RMB appreciation. Many exporters complained that their profits are being eaten away by the appreciation, and anticipation on the upward movement of the yuan has made them hesitant to take international orders."
Besides, Chinese exporters are also impacted by the international trade barriers. In 2009, China s export value accounting for 9.6% of the world total, but the faces 40% of the world s anti-dumpling and anti-subsidies probes.
The 108th session of the Canton Fair will be held in 3 phase as usual. There will be 57136 stands, nearly 221 more than last session. A total of 31,000 Chinese exporters attends the Fair, and occupied 98,000 booths. The first session will be held between Oct.15-19. Household electrical appliances, machinery, hardware and building materials will be exhibited in this session.
