A total number of 30 Legend Guangzhou Special Envoys made their debut in Yuexiu Park on Tuesday morning and they bear with responsibilities to express appreciation and greetings to Asian Games volunteers and every one involved in the sporting event as well as to spread the Lingnan culture to local residents and tourists in the park.

Co-organised by Volunteers Department of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC) and Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the first batch of Legend Guangzhou Special Envoys were recruited from citizens that are familiar with the history, development and culture of Guangzhou, in a bid to showcase the new look of each district, highlight the role of volunteers in the process of urban civilisation and promote Lingnan culture.
During the Guangzhou Asian Games and Guangzhou Asian Para Games, Special Envoys will work in 191 of the 600 Asian Games city volunteer service stations or go out to the streets, squares and tourist attractions to publicise the Asiad. Those delivering the best performance will have the opportunity to promote Guangzhou in the Canton Tower.

In their first-day service, the 30 Special Envoys showed up in Yuexiu Park wearing unique costumes under the leadership of Li Songhui, an Asian Games torchbearer and spokesperson for Chinese olive culture. They made "big-thumb" salutes and presented gifts to the city volunteers, sanitation workers and administrative staff in the park.

Recruitment for the second batch of Legend Guangzhou Special Envoys lasts from November 13 till December 19.
