Chinese air show opens with record number of exhibitors

The 8th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition opened Tuesday in Zhuhai city in south China's Guangdong Province, with a record 600 exhibitors in attendance.

Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang announced the opening of the exhibition, which runs from Tuesday to Sunday. He also attended a contract signing ceremony.

At the ceremony, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China signed an agreement to build 100 of its self-developed C919 jumbo jets for Air China and five other domestic and overseas airline companies.

During the next five days, an international conference on aviation and aerospace will also be held.
