Another 3,600 Chinese tourists are expected to visit Queensland in eastern Australia each month, following the first plane touching down in Brisbane on Tuesday morning.
China Southern Airlines is now flying three times a week between Guangzhou in southern China and Brisbane.
The first of the A330 flights was 90 percent full, and if all goes smoothly an extra 3,600 tourists are expected to make the eight-hour trip each month.
Queensland Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor said it was now easier to lure Chinese tourists to the state rather than its southern rivals.
About 158,000 Chinese visited Queensland in the year to June, up 14 percent from the year before. They spent 333 million AU dollars (332 million U.S. dollars), an increase of 81 million AU dollars (80.8 million U.S. dollars) from the year before.
A total of 23,000 Queenslanders travelled to China last year.
China Southern Airlines Tan Wengan said the carrier would consider making daily flights in the future.
"We expect by the end of 2015, China Southern will operate 110 weekly flights between China and Australia," he said.
He also said he wanted to see Guangzhou become the best transit hub for Australians to fly to Europe, the United States, Japan and South Korea.
