On the afternoon of Nov. 27, the Zhuhai Municipal Standing Committee, Municipal Government Deputy Mayor He Ningka, said at the Press Conference of the 14th Asian Games in Guangdong that the (Zhuhai) that Gunagzhou-Zhuhai City Railway is planned to be opened at the end of this year.
As is indicated by He Ningka, this year is an important node for Zhuhai Special Economic Zone to stride forward from the past 30 years to the coming 30 years. Construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was started in December of 2009, and the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Railway returned to work in April of 2008 in an all-round way, and will be completed and put into service in late 2011, while the Gunagzhou-Zhuhai City Railway is scheduled to be opened in late 2010. Zhuhai is striving to basically build itself up as a core city at the west coast part of the Pearl River Delta.
Currently, construction of new campus of University of Macau on Hengqin Island has been started in an all-round way. Construction of the municipal infrastructures, Chimelong International Sea Resort, ShiZiMen Central Business District and Multiple Gas Energy Supply Station and other major programs, with the total investment of 70 billion RMB, has been started successfully.
Agreements of modern service industry programs such as Hengqin Headquarter Building, etc. have been signed officially, including new energy program and culture creativity program. 13 industry programs with the cumulative investment of 20 billion RMB are under negotiation. In addition, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Zhuhai-Macao Port Artificial Island Reclamation Project will be completed in late 2012.
