The Administration of Press, Publication, Radio and Television of Guangzhou Municipality presented a briefing about Guangzhou's recent cultural developments.
Director of the Administration of Press, Publication, Radio and Television of Guangzhou Municipality Lu Zhiqiang told reporters that Guangzhou strives to increase hosting major cultural events. By hosting the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games and Asian Para Games, Guangzhou "has made enormous efforts to promote its cultural development as well as increase cultural productive force, competitiveness and radiation ability in becoming a world famous cultural city".
He added, Guangzhou has made building a public cultural system a major priority of its work. The number of cultural sites including the Guangzhou Opera House, Guangzhou Tower, Guangzhou New Library and Museum of Nanyue King has been completed. Others such as the Memorial Hall of 1911 Revolution and New Address of Guangzhou Television are under construction.
