The annual China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition is due to take place from December 21 to 27 at the Guangzhou Pazhou International Convention and Exhibition Center.
Xiao Zhenyu, deputy director of the auto show's preparatory office and director of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, revealed at a press conference on December 9 that automakers from across the world will unveil nearly 50 new models at the forthcoming exhibition, which is set to feature the largest ever number of models unveiled for the first time in the world, Asia and China in its history.
Inaugurated in 2003, the Guangzhou auto show is now in its eighth year and ranks among China's top three auto shows along with the Beijing and Shanghai auto shows. This year's Guangzhou auto show will be themed on "Leading Technologies for a Better Future" and showcase the largest ever number of vehicles.
According to Mr. Xiao, the show will feature an exhibition space of 160,000 square meters, including 105,000 square meters for complete vehicles, 30,000 square meters for auto parts and components, and 25,000 square meters for the media center and other facilities, making it one of the world's largest auto shows. The number of exhibitions, trade buyers and visitors is expected to exceed that of last year's show as well.
Also according to Mr. Xiao, the auto show will be open to trade visitors only on December 21 and 22 and to the public on from December 23 to 27. Tickets to the show can be booked by phone, on the Internet, via short message service, or with Yangchengtong. They can also be purchased at various outlets throughout the city. This year's ticket prices will remain unchanged from last year's.
