A conference was held on December 21 to take stock of the experience in publicity and media services for the Guangzhou Asian Games and Para Asian Games. At the conference, Wang Xiaoling, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, announced that Guangzhou will set out to build a national-class demonstration zone for public cultural service systems.
Ms. Wang said that in the post-games period, Guangzhou will give high priority to the development of cultural projects for the benefit of the general public, and will build a range of superb public cultural infrastructural facilities.
She also said that cultural landmarks in the city will be enhanced, and that, preference will be given to rural areas and grassroots organizations in the allocation of cultural resources.
There are also plans to enhance the standard and quality of the "10-minute cultural circle" in the city and the "five-kilometer cultural circle" in the countryside, and to improve public cultural service functions.
Moreover, administrative regulations will be formulated for the city's public cultural facilities and resources, and an effective system will be introduced to increase government expenditures for and public involvement in the provision of public cultural services.
Furthermore, a number of branding initiatives will be launched, and efforts will be made to further foster the leading cultural brands, local cultural heritage brands, public cultural events, and folk art and culture brands.
All these efforts are set to make Guangzhou a pioneer in public cultural events and a national-class demonstration site for public cultural service systems.
