On Jan 11, the Conghua government signed a contract of modern industry projects with Guangzhou International Trade City, South China University of Technology and other corporations and organizations, which involves 43 billion RMB of investment. After the signing ceremony, Liang Jianqing, the leader of Conghua indicated that the Asian Games Racecourse of Conghua had been officially transferred to Hong Kong Jockey Club. The racecourse will be developed into a world-class equestrian training center and a venue for international equestrian competitions.
Other projects included in the contract cover a wide range of modern services sectors, such as high technology, modern manufacturing, trade and business, logistics, pharmaceutical research and development and ecological housing. It is thanks to the positive influence of the 16th Asian Games that Conghua has been able to attract these projects.
Mr. Liang said that in 2012, the city would give top priority to the development of high-end tourism, culture design and other creative industries. The pferdepest-free zone, whose establishment was made possible by the Asian Games, will be a main driver for the future development of Conghua's horse export industry.
