Cantonese Culture and Art Festival to be held in Five Immortals Temple

Write: Sagara [2011-05-20]

The 2011 Cantonese Culture and Art Festival will be held in the renovated and upgraded Five Immortals Temple between Jan 18 and 23.

The upgraded temple boasts three millennium-themed exhibition halls, namely, the "Millennium City", the "Millennium Flowers" and the "Millennium Ferry". Here, visitors can tap into all their senses to feel, touch, read and hear the two-thousand-year history of Guangzhou. To better promote Cantonese culture, the district government in Yuexiu has allocated a large amount of money for the renovation and expansion of the temple.

When completed, the temple will become a grand display platform of Cantonese culture. As things stand today, the first phase of the project has been completed and opened to the public. The temple now boasts seven scenic spots that feature Cantonese culture. Visitors to the temple will be mesmerized by the lingering charm and appeal of Cantonese culture.

Between Jan 18 and 23, the Cantonese Culture and Art Festival will be held by Guangzhou Research Institute of Culture in the Five Immortals Temple. The festival is a great opportunity for Guangzhou citizens to observe and admire the exquisite workmanship of master craftsmen.
