The number of inbound tourists in southern China's Guangdong Province took up 80 percent, and the province's tourism foreign exchange earnings were ranked first nationwide, according to data released by the Guangdong provincial government on Jan. 21.
Guangdong Province is endeavoring to make the tourism industry the pillar industry of its economy and has set a target of achieving 13 percent added value in the modern service industry.
During the upcoming 12th Five-Year Plan, Guangdong Province aims to speed up its comprehensive reform of tourism, optimize the tourism industry structure and improve the overall image of Guangdong tourism.
The paid leave system is also expected to be put into practice to ensure public participation in tourism and leisure in 2011.
