An exhibition of photos that depict the anti-Japanese battlefields in China, Myanmar and India is held in Beijing. These precious photos are provided by National Archives of the United States. These same photos will soon be presented to citizens in Guangzhou.
These photos record an epic journey by a Chinese expeditionary army. In 1944, this Chinese army sailed across the Nu River to drive the Japanese invaders out of western Yunnan. The army then entered Myanmar to join forces with another Chinese army stationed in India. There, the two armies constructed the Yunnan-Myanmar Highway, which became a key logistics highway for the Chinese armies fighting the Japanese in Chinese territory.
These images were captured by war photographers from the United States. 120 representative photos are put on display at the exhibition. These photos, selected from a vast array of 23,000 photos in National Archives of the United States, have been developed and enlarged. Historic footages are screened at the exhibition, which record the actual ceremony of the Japanese signing their surrender ending World War II.
The photo exhibition will be successively held in six Chinese cities, namely Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Kunming, Nanjing and Chongqing.
