Guangzhou's largest and longest Spring Festival flower market was officially opened in the Guangzhou Flower Garden on Jan 18. To grace this display South Africa's national flower "King Protea", Taipei's new flower "Maple Leaf Butterfly Orchid", Japan's "Angraecum" and other precious flowers have traveled across the sea to Guangzhou for the first time.
The Spring Festival flower market will last 15 days and closed on Feb 1. With an area of 600 thousand sq.m. and over 200 booths, there are over 120 floral species on display, namely 700 thousand pots, of Spring Festival flowers in the market. It is expected that the overall flower price will rise by 10% this year due to rising costs and the recent low temperature climate. In addition the Conghua Spring Festival flower market will be opened from Jan 28 to Feb 2 this year. It will be located at South Wangcheng Avenue, Chengjiao Street, with bout 105 booths.
