Guangzhou's retails surged by another 1 trillion RMB, after breaking through the 1-trillion-RMB mark in 2007.
The city's total retails surpassed 2 trillion RMB last year, officials announced on January 26 at the city's work conference on industry and commerce.
According to Zhao Xiaohui, director of the Guangzhou Economic and Trade Commission, the city will devote greater resources this year to enhance the stimulatory effect of industry and commerce, promote the growth of strategic service industries such as modern commerce and trade as well as , and conventions and exhibitions, and enhance the resource allocation capacity of Guangzhou as an international center for commerce and trade.
These efforts are aimed at attracting more high-end resources in commerce and trade to Guangzhou to consolidate the city's status as an international center for commerce and trade and to establish Guangzhou as a global shopping paradise.
