Work on Xin'an Bridge connecting Shenzhen and Dongguan will start this year.

The bridge will connect Jian'an Road in Chang'an in Dongguan with Xinhe Road in Shajing, Bao'an District of Shenzhen. When completed in 2013, the bridge will greatly relieve traffic pressure on National Highway 107.

The two cities had established a combined team to coordinate the project, prepare reports and conduct environmental assessments.

"We will try our best to start the project as soon as possible," said Wang Min, head of the Shenzhen transport commission, during a field inspection yesterday.

Shenzhen will also speed up work on the extension of Ruyi Road in Longgang District and Longfeng Road for the connection with the North Passage connecting Dongguan as early as possible.
