Guangdong only let hosts Shanghai score 39 points to win the one-sided match 71-39 at the Chinese Women's Basketball Association league (WCBA) on Tuesday (Feb 8).
Zhang Yide's 10 points were Shanghai's team-high as they only scored eight points apiece in both the first and third quarter. Guangdong took 38 points after the first half, almost the same to Shanghai's whole match points.
Only two Guangdong players scored in doublt-digits. Wei Wei finished with a match-high 12 points but only played 17 minutes. Guang Qin contributed 10 points and five rebounds. All 12 Guangdong players had chances to get on the court and eleven of them scored.
Guangdong is 14-5 and placed second in the WCBA ranking, three winning-matches after Shenyang Army (17-2), which defeated Fujian 94-74, and with the 0-19 record, Fujian is still far away from the first win of the season.
Shenyang Army will next play Guangdong. If they don't lose for more than five points, Shenyang will be the champion of the regular season as there is only three rounds left and Shengyang Army edged out Guangdong 83-77 in their first meet of the season.
In other matches, defending champion Liaoning beat Zhejiang 82-78. Jiangsu beat Yunan 79-66 and Bayi gave Henan an 86-75 lost, while Heilongjiang lost to Beijing 86-90.
