Three Guangzhou students missing in New Zealand earthquake

Three Guangzhou girls, Lai Chang, Zhong Yantao and Cathy Ye were announced missing in the magnitude-6.3 earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand till Feb. 24, according to the Ambassador of the China to New Zealand.

The Chinese students are among dozens trapped in the King's Education language college, which is on the third floor of flattened Christchurch TV building.

Lai Chang, is the only child of a Guangzhou family, living in Yuexiu District of Guangzhou City.

Zhong Yantao has a five years' old daughter and her husband works in a police office in Haizhu district of Guangzhou.

Cathy Ye was born in 1983, and worked as a nurse in Guangzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital before she went to New Zealand.

Their families are so anxious and going to fly to Christchurch.

The death toll from the earthquake that hit New Zealand's Christchurch on Tuesday has climbed to 103, while 228 people are still missing, the local police confirmed on Friday morning.
