Green bin for kitchen wastes and white bin for other wastes (Guangzhou Daily)
Guangzhou residents, starting April 1, will be required to sort daily garbage into four separate bins. In accordance with new regulation, garbage must be categorized as recycling, kitchen, harmful and other wastes. Individuals found in violation will be fined 50 RMB per infraction.
Four different colored bins have been manufactured and labeled to guide residents. The government has prepared six million handouts to familiarize them with the categories.

Recycling Waste (blue bin): paper, glass, plastic, metal
Kitchen Waste (green bin): organic perishable food, potted plant
Harmful Waste (red bin): drug, pesticide, petrol, cosmetic, film, paint, thermometer, fluorescent lamp, battery
Other Waste (white bin): disposable diaper, sanitary pad, cigarette head, paper napkin, glass fiber product, porcelain, clothing, shoes
