The uptrend of the prices of agricultural produce and sideline products is expected to ease off. Officials announced at a price control conference on March 8 that Guangzhou will build a number of discount food stores which will feature seamless connection between suppliers and distributors, thereby reducing distribution expenses and lowering the final selling prices.
As planned, 77 such discount shops will be built this year, and a network of production and supply with seamless connection between farms and supermarkets will largely be in place by 2013, providing residents with a vast range of high-quality food with good value for money.
