Shenzhen motorists can renew their driver s licenses or have their missing licenses reissued through the Internet as the city traffic police bureau launched online vehicle management service today, the first in Guangdong Province.
Logging onto Web site, www. cgs.stc.gov.cn, or calling 11185, motorists can also select plate numbers for their new cars, check their violations, validity of driver s licenses and health check information.
Driving learners can also have a mocking test and make an appointment for tests through the online service.
The online service will help relieve the inconvenience of motorists having to wait in queues at vehicle registration and management offices, Xu Wei, spokesperson of the city traffic police bureau, said at a news conference yesterday.
The license renewal would cost 40 yuan (US$6), including 10 yuan for the license and 30 yuan for delivery, police said.
Police also launched QQ instant messenger service and opened a hotline 2222-2000 with 10 lines for consultations and complaints around the clock.
After the online application, police will verify the information of drivers and send a feedback to the applicants.
The license will be completed within five workdays.
The number of vehicles in Shenzhen had exceeded 1.74 million by Tuesday.
Vehicle registration offices handle around 12,803 applications a day.
