Chief leaders of three districts and one from the city of Guangzhou joined hands to explore the potentiality for a promising high-tech industry development in the eastern area. An information network is now opened to share industrial information and resources.
On March 6, the Joint Conference was held in Tianhe district, the starting point of the eastern development drive. Chief leaders of the three districts and one from the Guangzhou Municipal Government attended the conference and signed the Rules of Procedure, including Ling Weixian, Member of Standing Committee of Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Luogang Committee, Xu Zhibiao, Member of Standing Committee of Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Zengcheng Committee, Liu Yuelun, Secretary of the CPC Tianhe Committee, and Chen Xiaogang, Secretary of the CPC Huangpu Committee.
According to the Rules of Procedure, the Joint Conference will be held twice a year to extend cooperation on the high-tech industry. It has one administrative office and four operational teams of cooperation and innovation, infrastructure planning and construction, social affairs management, and eco environment protection. Each of the teams is collaboratively run by the corresponding departments of the districts and city government.
One of the highlights of the conference on March 6 was that the Management Committee of Guangzhou New and High Technology Industrial Zone, authorized the Tianhe Science and Technology Park to deal with transfer of land inclusive seizure's right within the red line of the Park, examine, approve and manage investment projects of fixed assets, and examine and approve projects under 30 million US dollars. The management committee at municipal level will only provide guidance on relevant policies, laws, regulations and businesses.
"We have signed 20 practical projects through which Tianhe would benefit most", said Liu Yuelun. After obtaining full independence, Tianhe Science and Technology Park will make good use of these authorizations in a bold and decisive manner.
During the conference, these chief principals had discussions on the eastward strategy, development of high-tech industry and implementation of specific projects. Twenty projects will be launched within this year, including the planning of Guangzhou Binjiang New City, East Extension of BRT and Metro Line 7 (Second Phrase).
