Shocked by the devastating earthquake in Japan, people rush to buy survival kits online. On March 15, it is learnt from the Guangzhou Earthquake Office that professional survival kits at the price under 40 yuan will be put into mass production in Guangzhou.
In each earthquake emergency kits, there are water, food, first-aid kit and some critical items for life. According to He Chaohui, Director of Guangzhou Earthquake Office, there are not sufficient supplies in the market and people tend to turn to online shopping for help.
In Nanjing municipality, emergency kits will be delivered to 30,000 households as a precautionary measure to reduce the damage caused by earthquake. Guangzhou will not take similar action but will put survival kits into mass production and later into the market.
At the end of 2009, Science, Technology and Information Bureau of Haizhu District designed and patented emergency kits for three different survival solutions: for family, volunteers and professional rescue team. Zhang Xiaoli, Deputy Director of Haizhu District Technology and Information Bureau, does not encourage buying survival kits on line because "those kits produced in other countries may not fit into our need." To meet the market demand, Haizhu District Technology and Information Bureau will accelerate the negotiations with the factories involved and will put the survival kits into mass production as soon as possible.
