Shenzhen is soliciting designs for a logo depicting the city s image globally, with a prize of 200,000 yuan (US$30,000) for the winner.
The logo, which is expected to be put into circulation in July before the Shenzhen Universiade, will be an important tool to promote the city internationally. It would show charisma, uniqueness and vitality of Shenzhen, the Shenzhen Municipal Government Information Office said Thursday.
The Universiade in August, which will attract 13,000 athletes and officials from 180 countries, is a hard-won chance to promote the city internationally, said Chen Jinhai, head of the office.
Individual designers and design companies from around the world are welcome to submit entries. The logo should be innovative with strong visual impact and easily recognized and accepted by people of different cultural backgrounds.
The deadline for submissions is April 30.
Applicants can log onto www.sz.gov.cn or szlogo.sznews.com to download application forms. The organizer will present awards to the final 120 entries. The organizer will invite well-known experts to review the entries and the winner will be announced after qualification checks, preliminary selection, re-examination, public voting, consultation and final approval.
According to Xue Feng, vice head of the city s planning and land resources commission, the logo will be displayed at landmark buildings and public areas such as transport terminals and checkpoints.
