Defending champions Guangdong Hongyuan sweep the Bayi Rockets 105-82 in Dongguan on Sunday to make the semifinals of the playoff for 2010-2011 Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA).
It is Hongyuan's 15th win against Bayi, who dominated the Chinese basketball league in the 1990s.
Trailing 2-0 in the best-of-five series, Bayi knew they could only stay alive in the competition with an away victory.
But Guangdong jumped 11-0 ahead in the first quarter as two youngsters Dong Hanlin and Su wei broke Bayi's defense into pieces.
Former NBA player Wang Zhizhi inspired a spirited comeback for Bayi in the third quarter when the 36-year-old veteran scored seven points in two minutes to cut the gap down to less than 10 points.
But Lester Hudson then scored six points to quench Bayi's hopes of a come-from-behind win.
