Guangzhou Transportation Commission provides 100 accessible taxis and Guangzhou Disabled Persons' Federation distributes 10,000 charitable service cards.
From March 19, 10,000 charitable service cards will be distributed to the disabled persons. By telling the card number through phone call or SMS, a disabled taxi which charges the same as a normal one will arrive and pick them up.
On the same day, twenty accessible taxis made their debut with taxi drivers demonstrating how to help the disabled on and off the vans. Disabled taxis were put into service during the Guangzhou Para-Asian Games and were operated by Baiyun Taxi Group and Guangzhou Transportation Group. Now, the number of disabled taxis has reached 100. It mainly responds to call-up service and charges the same as a normal taxi.
The 10,000 service cards were made by Guangzhou Transportation Commission, Guangzhou Disabled Persons' Federation, Baiyun Taxi Group and Guangzhou Transportation Group and will be distributed by the Disabled Federation. 24-hour call-up service numbers are printed on the cards and they are "96900", "83600000" of Baiyun Taxi Group and "96122" of Guangzhou Transportation Group.
