Guangzhou: Thieves crawle to avoid infrared alarm system

Write: Raimy [2011-05-20]

Two thieves in Guangzhou have stolen more than 170,000 yuan, or 26,000 US dollars. Using break-and-enter techniques similar to those in Hollywood movies, such as "Entrapment" the robbers crawled on their stomachs to avoid the infrared alarm system.

The burglars then broke into the safe of the finance office for a spring factory and made off with the cash in under 20 minutes. While the thieves maneuvered to avoid the infrared alarm, they forgot the existence of the monitoring camera.

A staff member says the burglars ability to avoid setting off the several infrared alarms, probably means that they are familiar with the place. A police investigation is underway.
