The Guangzhou Metro Corporation said the other day that the subway line network would implement the time schedules of Saturdays and Sundays during the 3-day Qingming Festival to appropriately increase reserved vehicles to deal with large passenger flows.
It was estimated by Guangzhou Metro that during the Qingming Festival (April 5), there would be a peak passenger flow with passenger capacity expected to reach 4.83 million. During the duration of the holiday period, the daily passenger capacity of the subway line network is expected to average 4.68 million.
To meet the public's travel demands during the festival, the subway line network will, in addition to implementing weekend time schedules also put on reserve carriages on each main line (APM line excluded). The control centers will closely monitor the passenger flow changes, and make timely adjustments to the transport carrying capacities and flexibly schedule, and ease passenger flow. In addition the Metro will add extra ticket booths at key stations, with likely ticket useage exceeding 700,000.
In order to deal with the high volume passenger flow and to ensure safe and convenient travel for passengers, the Metro has also increased manning levels to maintain order, and additional platforms at Tianhe Bus Station and other stations. Guide boards providing directions towards "Galaxy Cemetery and "Siyuan Park at the Tianhe Bus Station, Yantang and, Yong Tai stations respectively and broadcast guidance to facilitate a rapid ease of passenger flow will also be implemented.
