Yesterday, Dongguan and Shenzhen abolished most of their highway and bridge border tolls. At present, the two cities have only three remaining highway tolls, Matian and Shuitian in Shenzhen and Jiangnan in Dongguan.
The move marks the beginning of charge-free on highways in Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou city ring. Freeways connecting these cities are still fee-charging.
According to Nanfang Daily, a plan on Pearl River Delta highway charge abolishment will come out before June with a blue print of charge-free highway networks within the whole Delta area.
