Shenzhen police will impose traffic controls between 7:30 and 9 p.m. today, forbidding vehicles from entering roads around the Citizens Center in Futian District during the fireworks display.
Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the area south of Fuzhong Road (the section between Yitian and Jintian roads), west of Jintian Road (from Fuzhong Road to Fuhua Road 1), east of Yitian Road (from Fuzhong Road to Fuhua Road ) and north of Fuhua Road 1 (between Yitian and Jintian roads).
Traffic on Fuzhong Road, Fuzhong Road 3, Shennan Thoroughfare (between Xinzhou Flyover and Caitian Flyover), Jintian Road and Fuhua Road 1 will be diverted to other roads, police said.
More than 700 police officers will be deployed to control traffic during the fireworks display, which is expected to attract 1 million spectators.
The Citizens' Center station on Metro Line 4 will be closed during the show. Train intervals on Metro Line 1 will be shortened to every 4.5 minutes from seven minutes and on Metro Line 4 to seven minutes from 10 minutes, to disperse passengers quickly.
In addition, 61 bus routes will extend services to 10:30 p.m. and bus companies will set up 13 temporary bus stops on Shennan Thoroughfare in front of the Citizens' Center square and another five stops along Hongli Road, the Shenzhen transport commission said Saturday.
The commission expects those living near Lianhua Hill Park to walk to the display to relieve the strain on buses.
