A medical staff member complaining about handling a dead body at midnight through a post on a microblog has been removed from her post, the Yangcheng Evening News reports.
The blogger, Li Conglin, works for a hospital in Shantou of south China's Guangdong Province.
Li, who was on duty on February 16, wrote in her microblog that a dying patient may force her to get up to handle the body, and that she didn't want to leave her warm bed in such a cold night.
The post has aroused heated discussion among internet users.
The majority commented that Li was a cold-blooded person with no medical ethics. With such a staff, there would be no one daring to go to such a hospital.
A netizen, "ckrain_hDian", said the distrustful relationship between hospitals and patients originated from medical staff's apathy and numbness exhibited by such behavior.
Voices supporting the doctor also exist. Some people said medical staff on the night shifts were overworked, and they had only one or two hours to have a rest.
An internet user named "Diligent Waxgourd" commented that Li was at least honest, because she was exposing a truth that exists in some hospitals.
The doctor, however, has her own explanation about the event. She claimed that her password of the microblog was stolen, and the content was written by someone with malicious intent.
Information cited from the hospital said that the staff member in question has been removed from her post temporarily, and the police would be involved if necessary.
