On May 13th, Vice-president Yuan Jun met with the delegation led by Per Arne Olsen, Vice-president of Oslo University College (OUC).The two sides signed an agreement of cooperation between the two universities, and OUC signed to join the International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication.
During the meeting, Vice-president Yuan Jun looked back at the history of communication of OUC and Communication University of China (CUC), expressed his satisfaction with their cooperation achievements in journalism and computer science, hoping that art and more other disciplines would be brought into the scope of cooperation in the near future. He also introduced the International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication which was launched by CUC and its growth and performance after it was born.
Vice-president Per Arne Olsen introduced Oslo University College and the delegation s participation in Norway Pavilion s Higher Education exhibition in Shanghai EXPO. He said that Oslo University College thought highly of the exchange relations with CUC and OUC was willing to join the International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication and take this platform to expand academic exchange and cooperation between the two universities.
After the meeting, the two vice-presidents as the representatives of their own universities, renewed their agreements on exchange programs for both students and teachers; Vice-president Per Arne Olsen also signed on the Declaration of International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication, and thus OUC became an official member of the league. Then the delegation visited School of Animation, CUC.
Director of Development Planning Wang Baohua, Deputy Dean of School of Computer Huang Xianglin and Deputy Dean of International Exchange and Cooperation Department Zhang Yanqiu attended the meeting.
OUC is a young, dynamic institution. It was established in 1994 when the Norwegian college system was restructured. The degree programs of OUC would date back to 19th century. The college now has a total of 10,000 students and more than 1,000 faculties. OUC is the largest national university college of Norway, which has 7 departments and more than 50 disciplines for undergraduates and masters. The college also supplies master s programs taught in English. The two sides first signed exchange agreements in 2004.
