On August 24, 2010, HP Global Vice President, also General Manager of Business Department of Information Products Group Workstation, Mr. Jim Zafarana; HP Global Marketing Director of Business Department of Information Products Group Workstation, Mr. Jeff Wood; Ms. Anneliese Olson, HP Global Vice President, also General Manager of Customer Solutions, Accessories and Services Business Department of Information Products Group, Asia Pacific and Japan region; Ms. Dorothy Alexandra, Vice President of HP China, also General Manager of Value-added Products Business Department of Information Products Group HP Marketing Director of business systems industry of Information Products Group, Asia Pacific and Japan region, Mr. Woon-Yung Chung; and Mr. Fang Zhi, General Sales Manager of Business Department of Information Products Group Workstation, HP China, paid a visit to School of Animation of CUC. Vice Dean of School of Animation Jia Xiuqing; Dean Assistant Wang Lei; responsible person of HP Education Center of Excellence Cui Yunpeng and other related persons attended the meeting.

Mr. Jim Zafarana and his party visited HP Education Center of Excellence of School of Animation of CUC , co-founded by School of Animation and HP at the end of 2008, watching several excellent teachers and students works created by the center since last year, including the background animation for Little Tigers performance of 2010 CCTV Spring Festival cabaret; the digital 3D animated short film Deep Shade , which won Monkey Award for Best Student Work Award at the sixth China International Animation Festival; and six high-level animated short films, co-created by Chinese and Canadian students in the just-concluded summer School of Animation. HPs visiting party showed high appreciation of the achievements HP Education Center of Excellence of School of Animation of CUC made over the past year, which were above the expectations of HP. The center had fully realized its goal.
During the talks, Vice Dean Jia Xiuqing expressed appreciation for the achievements HP made in the field of computer expertise technology, and expressed thanks for HP s support and assistance to School of Animation. In addition, Vice Dean Jia reviewed the cooperation achievements between School of Animation and HP in recent years, and introduced the recent development plan. She said, since establishment, HP Education Center of Excellence has launched a series of excellent digital animation and digital synthesis short film works, also fostered a batch of capable creative talents who master advanced digital animation techniques, making great influence on animation industry and academia of home and abroad.
Mr. Jim Zafarana was very satisfied with bilateral cooperation. He said this was his second visit to School of Animation since last August, and he was very pleased to see the perfect realization of development goals the two sides drafted a year ago. Mr. Jim Zafarana said, the strong combination of HP and CUC has become a best cooperation practice that HP made with university worldwide, which will also make contributions to animation education of China. HP has promoted the cooperation with CUC as a successful case by TV video worldwide, on the basis of present cooperation, the two sides can gradually extend cooperation to a wider area, carry out all-round strategic cooperation, HP will, as always, provide full support and assistance for School of Animation of CUC.
Currently, School of Animation of CUC and HP are working together to create the Phase III project of HP Education Center of Excellence of School of Animation of CUC , which will be inaugurated in China (Beijing) International University Animation Festival, in October,2010. For the Phase III project of HP Education Center of Excellence , HP will continue to put the worlds leading 3D stereoscopic and interactive film, as well as animation production equipment to School of Animation of CUC, build the first three-dimensional video production lab in domestic leading level, and strive to make a more far-reaching, positive influence in the field of global film, animation industry. At the same time, School of Animation of CUC and HP are also working together to build first virtual idol in China, through platforms of TV, movies, Internet, mobile phones and other cross-media, expand the exploration of the development of digital media animation content. In the Fifth China (Beijing) International University Animation Festival, the two sides will launch the first teachers and students portfolio of HP Education Center of Excellence of School of Animation of CUC .
"HP Education Center of Excellence" is the joint educational project HP workstations mainly push in the world. It aims at three areas, animation, manufacturing and oil, designed to work with world famous universities, combining the strengths of educational resources of universities and experience and technology advantages of international enterprises, to create industry research and creative platform under university and enterprise coalition, and train first-class industry professionals together. As the representative of Chinese animation education, School of Animation of CUC and HP jointly launched the only "HP Education Center of Excellence" project in the field of Chinese animation education, and has received high-end hardware and software for free from HP, at the end of 2008, the first-phase lab of HP Education Center of Excellence of School of Animation of CUC was completed, and in October, 2009, the second-phase lab was completed.
On the accomplishing of the third-phase project of "HP Education Center of Excellence", the hardware standards of the center will be further improved, teachers and students of CUC can use International most cutting-edge and powerful desktop graphics workstation in HP Education Center of Excellence, making study and creation of high-end CG, film special effects and three-dimensional imaging. This played an important role in enhancing experiment and teaching level of School of Animation of CUC, and in line with international first-class level. The cooperation between School of Animation of CUC and HP, which is the worlds largest IT company and ranked first in the field of digital content, hardware technology providers, has become a successful example of school-enterprise cooperation, which is making worldwide influence, and will continue to produce long-term and far-reaching significance.
