Outstanding Students Honored at 2009 Tsinghua Scholarship Awards Ceremony

A number of outstanding Tsinghua students were honored on December 16 at the 2009 Tsinghua Scholarship Awards Ceremony in the Main Building. Ten students were awarded Tsinghua Top Grade Scholarships, eight students received Jiang Nanxiang Scholarships, and 33 students received December Ninth Scholarships, 40 students won Philobiblon Scholarships, 201 students received National Scholarships, and 326 students received Freshman Scholarships.

Tsinghua University Council Chairman Hu Heping, Tsinghua Education Foundation Chairman He Meiying, Tsinghua Deputy President Chen Jining, Tsinghua Vice President Yuan Si, and Tsinghua University Council Vice Chairperson Shi Zongkai awarded certificates to the scholarship winners.

Tsinghua University Council Chairman Hu delivered a speech in which he extended his congratulations to the honorees. He noted that Tsinghua attached great importance to the cultivation of young talent. He encouraged the students to be diligent, innovative, and become all-round individuals with diverse abilities.

The Tsinghua undergraduate Top Grade Scholarship winners were Chen Rong (Department of Architecture), Zhang Zhuo (Department of Electronic Engineering), Li Chao (Department of Mathematical Sciences), Zheng Wen (Department of Chemistry), and Tang Xiao (School of Law). The graduate Top Grade Scholarship winners were Yang Fan (School of Aerospace), Liu Chao (School of Humanities and Social Sciences), Wang Kai (Department of Chemical Engineering), Fang Chao (Department of Physics), and Hua Jianfeng Department of Automotive Engineering).
