Prince Joachim of Denmark visited Tsinghua University on September 25. During his visit, Prince Joachim rode a bicycle together with Tsinghua students on the campus to promote green travel and environmental awareness. Friis Arne Petersen, Ambassador of Denmark to China, accompanied him on the visit. Tsinghua University Vice President Yuan Si welcomed Prince Joachim on behalf of Tsinghua and briefed him on Tsinghua's recent development.
At a ceremony later, Prince Joachim gave five lucky Tsinghua students bicycles which had been exhibited in the Danish Pavilion at World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. The Danish Embassy presented another five bicycles to Tsinghua University. The event was part of the "Back to Bike" campaign launched by the Danish Embassy.
