RUC Delegation visits Nigeria and South Africa

Prof. Cheng Tianquan, Chairman of Renmin University Council, and his delegation visited Nigeria and South Africa, including University of Lagos, University of Cape Town, WitwatersrandUniversity, local Chinese funded firms and embassies for strengthening the friendly relations between RUC and Africa.

RUC delegation visited the University of Lagos in Nigeria on Nov.19th, 2010. The university Vice Chancellor Prof. Adetokunbo Sofoluwe met with the RUC delegation. Both sides discussed about the academic cooperation and student exchange and signed a collaborative agreement.

During their visit in Nigeria, RUC delegation also visited the Consulate General of PRC in Lagos, the Lekki Free Trade Zone and the largest Chinese company WEMPCO in Nigeria.

RUC delegation visited the University of Cape Town in South Africa on Nov.23rd, 2010. The university Vice-Chancellor and Principal Prof. Max Price met with the delegation and exchanged views on bilateral student exchange programs.

RUC delegation visited the WitwatersrandUniversity in South Africa on Nov.25th, 2010. The university Vice-Chancellor Prof. Lloyiso Nongxa met with the delegation and hoped to co-establish a Confucius Institute with RUC so as to increase bilateral communications and cooperation.

RUC Delegation visits Nigeria and South Africa

The Chinese Ambassador Zhong Jianhua to South Africa met with the RUC delegation on Nov. 23rd. 2010. Ambassador Zhong wished RUC to bring its disciplinary advantages into full play and promote the studies of Africa and cultivation of talents for more contributions to Sino-African relation. Chairman Cheng expressed that RUC would further deepen exchanges and collaborations with African universities.

The RUC delegation included Prof. Zheng Gongcheng, Deputy Dean of RUC School of Labor and Human Resources and Member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Prof. Zang Yu, Deputy Dean of RUC School of Economics, Prof. Zheng Shuiquan, Director of Communications Office and News Center, Ms. Cheng Xin, Deputy Director of International Office, and Mr. Li Jiafu, Deputy Director of President s Office.
