A kite flying campaign has been launched in Beijing to boost public spirits, as China seeks to control its SARS outbreak. China has now reported 308 deaths from SARS. One hundred drummers at the Great Wall outside Beijing yesterday marked the launch of the non-government campaign to encourage the Chinese people to fight SARS. One of China's richest women,ZhanXin says a handful of entrepreneurs came up with the idea of handing out free kites every weekend until World Health Organization warnings about travel to China are safe. "Not only we need the physical medical support,we also need tremendous spiritual support,"she said. Kite flying is a popular pastime in China.
