Phase II Steelmaking Line of JISCO Starts Operation

China 22MCC Group Corporation Ltd. (22MCC) celebrated on May 12 the inauguration of the phase II steelmaking project of Jiuquan Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. (JISCO). Secretary of Gansu Provincial Party Committee Lu Hao, more than 200 distinguished guests including those from related government departments, JISCO leaders, Jiayuguan government officials, foreign experts, and representatives from the design, supervision and construction companies, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Wang Jiusheng, assistant to general manager of JISCO, gave an account of the significance of the project s commissioning to development of JISCO and Guansu province as a whole, and extended thanks to the builders for their hard working. Ji Yugang, the project manager of 22MCC in JISCO, made a speech at the ceremony.
The line is the third largest project which 22MCC has built in JISCO, including a dephosphorizing converter, an AOD converter, a ladle furnace (LF) and auxiliary facilities. The main works done include: installation of mechanical equipment (2,800t); fabrication and installation of steel structures (1,600t); fabrication and installation of pipes (over 1,000t); installation and testing of electric apparatuses and instruments (900 sets); and laying of cables (260km). With the new line operating today, JISCO has formed its annual steel production capacity of 1.2Mt.
