SOHO China - The Power of Symbol Exhibition Opened in Beijing

To celebrate SOHO China s 10-year anniversary, SOHO China has held a touring exhibition called "The Power of Symbol-- SOHO China-- 10 Year of Pioneering" in major cities of China which includes sections of architecture, people, culture and arts, media, etc. The grand opening was held in the mock-up building of Chaowai SOHO in Beijing on September 17. More than 500 people have attended the ceremony.
In the celebration, Mr. Pan Shiyi, Chairman & Co-CEO of SOHO China, says emotionally that he owes the times much which has given him opportunities to build houses for urbanites. Particularly, he wants to thank Ms. Zhang Xin, his wife and business partner, whom he has married for 11 years, for not only having helped him build up the company but also given him a warm home and two lovely sons.
In the past ten years, SOHO China has developed four projects including SOHO New Town, Commune by the Great Wall, Jianwai SOHO and Boao Canal Village. It is developing two projects in the CBD of Beijing, which are SOHO Shang Du and Chaowai SOHO. Each project has become a symbol of Beijing and even China. For instance, SOHO New Town has brought colors to Beijing; Commune by the Great Wall is the birthplace of Chinese contemporary architecture; Jianwai SOHO is a city inside the city; SOHO is the spirit of our times. Mr. Pan said in an interview with Beijing Youth Weekly, Look back the buildings we have built for Beijing in the past ten years, they have all been developed in balancing between formalism and anti-formalism, fashion and anti-Fashion. The development itself is a process of ceaseless reflections on the past. We call the exhibition the Power of Symbol , because it accurately shows the development process of property and the art of architecture.
Mr. Seung H-Sang s architectural projects are also exhibited in the mock-up building of Chaowai SOHO. Mr. Seung, who designed the Club House of the commune and Boao Canal Village, is the architect of Chaowai SOHO.
The exhibition in Beijing will last for 20 days.
