April, 18, Mr. Chen Changzhi, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People s Congress, Chairman of China Democratic National Construction Association, visited Tongwei with the company of government officials. Board Chairman of Tongwei Group Mr. Liu Hanyuan, Chairman of Board of Supervisors Mr. Chen Xingyu Group CFO Ms. Zhuo Yujiao, Vice President, Mr. Hu Rongzhu and General Manager of Yongxiang Polysilicon Mr. Feng Dezhi warmly welcome their arrival.
Mr. Liu introduced to Mr. Chen Tongwei s development path and its industrial chain build-up of the past 30 years. Mr. Chen gave high credit for Tongwei s achievements, and held great hope for its 2nd phase 3,000 tons/year polysilicon project that will start in this May.
Mr. Feng also made a brief introduction of 10,000-ton scale Sichuan Yongxiang polysilicon, from Tongwei s first entering the polysilicon industry in 2007 to the commission and completion of 1,000 ton/year polysilicon project in 2008. The project proceeded with the fastest speed from the project approval to production, and set up records of highest single-furnace production of the same dimension and specification, and highest purity of the same grade in the sector. Its product is tested and identified by U.S. Evans Analytical Group. The product s high quality has far exceeded solar energy grade, close to the standard electronic grade.
Mr. Chen and Mr. Liu made further communications on issues they are concerned of: solar thermal vs. photovoltaic; current poor sale of polysilicon products at domestic market; how to resolve technique problems, and the requirements and rules for grid companies to absorb PV generation. On each issue, Mr. Liu explained his views with detailed data and forward-looking scientific analysis.
According to Mr. Liu, by comparative analysis of several common clean energies - biomass, hydropower, wind power, nuclear energy and solar energy in terms of their respective advantages, costs, conversion efficiency, energy distribution and utilization technology, solar energy is most abundant, economical, clean and eco-friendly sustainable energy.
In particular, Mr. Liu mentioned, with the rapid global economic growth, the energy issues and environmental issues are becoming increasingly prominent. National security, regional security, as well as sustainable energy resource and development is of great significance to each country. As the cleanest, most eco-friendly and economical sustainable energy, solar energy will play the main role in the world s energy in the near future. Tongwei strives to make Yongxiang the world-class polysilicon producer and world-class clean energy company in 5 to 10 years. In the long run, Yongxiang will become the world-class polysilicon production base, where it will form a complete new energy industrial chain from monosilicon, polysilicon, solar module production, to solar PV generation and application. Mr. Chen gave very high credit of Tongwei s development and vision, and said Tongwei is developing very well.
