China Shipping Regional Holdings Sdn Bhd Held Its Opening Ceremony

China Shipping (Singapore) Holding Pte., Ltd has moved from Singapore to Malaysia, and changed its name to China Shipping Regional Holdings Sdn Bhd. The new company held its opening ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on July 1, 2005. Chan Kong Choy (Minister of Transport of Malaysia), Wang Chungui (China s ambassador to Malaysia), Zhang Guofa (Vice President of China Shipping (Group) Company), Jia Hongxiang (Executive Director and General Manager of CSCL) and guests from Klang Port Authority, and West Port of Klang attended the ceremony. Minister Chan Kong Choy, Ambassador Wang Chungui and Vice President Zhang Guofa addressed at the ceremony. They also attend a press conference after the ceremony and answered some questions raised by local media
In his address, Minister Chan Kong Choy expressed his warm congratulations on the decision of China Shipping Group to move the regional headquarters to Malaysia. He pointed that this move indicates the confidence of China Shipping Group in ports in Malaysia, and it will help to strengthen the cooperation and trade between Malaysia and China. He added that, the government of Malaysia will continue to expand ports construction to upgrade port equipments and capacities, and to attract more international marine companies to use Malaysian ports. Ambassador Wang Chungui spoke highly the decision of China Shipping Group. He said it s an important measure to adjust group strategy and to decrease operation cost. In his address, Vice President Zhang Guofa, on behalf of President Li Kelin, expressed heart-felt thanks to Minister Chan Kong Choy, Ambassador Wang Chungui as well as all distinguished guests. Vice President Zhang Guofa said that since the establishment of China Shipping Group 8 years ago, the group had been focusing on marine industry, continuously and progressively adjusting the fleet structure and running to grasp market opportunities. He said, container shipping industry is the core transport industry of China Shipping Group. He also introduced containership fleets and the line areas which have been growing rapidly. Vice President Zhang Guofa delivered his heart-felt thanks to the present and all the past Ministers of Transport of Malaysia, Klang Port Authority and West Port of Klang for their great supports to the development of the containership business of China Shipping Group. At the same time, he pointed out that the decision of China Shipping Group to move China Shipping Regional Holdings Sdn Bhd from Singapore to Malaysia is an important measure of the group to adjust the operation strategy of its container lines, indicates the confidence of the group in Malaysia and Klang Port, and will further promote the bilateral strategic cooperative relationship.
The movement of southeast regional headquarters of China Shipping Group to Malaysia invited wide attention from media. Malaysia TV reported the event in a news program in the evening of July 1.
