July 11 Becomes China s Maritime Day

Approved by the State Council, July 11, 2005 will become the first Maritime Day and the implementation date of the World Maritime Day in China. The Ministry of Communications of the People s Republic of China released a document and pointed out that, the establishment of Maritime Day is a significant event in Chinese maritime history, fully presents the great attention paid to the maritime industry by China, and shows the important role that the maritime and oceanic industry plays in the process of national economic development and social progress. Communications industry should take advantage of the new opportunity, practically implement the scientific development view and the strategic guideline of sustainable development, further promote the development of Chinese maritime and port industry, and provide quality services for the national economic construction.
Maritime Day is a legal activity day across China led by the government and participated by the whole people, and it is also the common day of all people in maritime transportation, port, maritime security and associated industries.
