At 9:00 July 11, 2006, there held 2006 China Maritime Day celebration jointly sponsored by Ministry of Communications, Commission of State Defense Technology and Industry, Ministry of Agriculture, State Oceanic Administration and Shanghai People s Municipal Government in Phase Quay of Yangshan Deep Port, Shanghai.
The celebration was presided by Deputy Minister Xu Zuyuan of Ministry of Communications, while Minister Li Shenglin unveiled the symbol of 2006 China Maritime Day , and raised the cover of China Maritime Museum jointly with Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng; moreover, Minister Li Shenglin and Mayor Han Zheng addressed speeches in their each respective, the celebration also granted National Excellent Captain , in which Captain Gu Zhongdong of China Shipping (Group) Company was listed among. The celebration also declared that the next convention would be held in Qingdao city.
President Li Shaode attended the celebration on invitation.
