Xin Shang Hai Launches Her Virgin Sail from Yangshan Port

On 10AM Oct. 12, there held virgin sailing ceremony for 9600TEU Xin Shang Hai container ship of China Shipping Container Lines, about 100 representatives from European service clients, media industry and corporate staff attended the ceremony, while director cum General Manager Zhao Hongzhou of China Shipping Container Lines presided over the virgin sailing.
As the second vessel in the total eight delivered ULV the 9600TEU Xin Shang Hai has been put into operation (the first one- Xin Luo Shan Ji has been employed in AEX7 line on June 22), the vessel measures 336.688 m, 45.6 m wide, 27.2 m deep, 68520KW of engine power, 25.8 knot speed and 147339 ton displacement and able to hold 9572 TEU. The vessel was delivered on Oct.9, 2006 and was put into AEX7 service line jointly operated by China Shipping Container Lines and CMA to connect main ports along Asian and European regions, the ports of call lists as Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Klang, Le Havre, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Zeeburgge, Klang.
Till now, China Shipping Container Lines owns over 150 vessels and up to total 400 thousands TEU, among which more than 60 vessels are that of over 4000TEU ones with a total 300 thousands TEU, thus counts for 78 shipping capacity. With the service of more 9600TEU ULV, China Shipping Container Lines may further improve her service capacity and reduces discharge period, for example, discharge period Shanghai to Europe has been reduced to only 22 days. Meanwhile, the operating cost reduces a lot, and let China Shipping Container Lines competence strengthened, thus, lays a firm base for the ambitious drive to build a large-scale, modern, speedy and young world-class shipping liner.
